bring anything for the hostess ...? ... BUT a few days later she calls you up and thanks you for the bottle of wine you brought? Would you tell her she's confused? Or would you just go along with her? What if the reverse happened: You did bring something to a party but later you overhear the hostess telling other people "Oh so-and-so gave me this ..." but the person she's referring to is NOT YOU? (In other words, you're not getting credit for what you brought.)
