dose anyone know the key to run a test in your hard drive too see if you can use...

...restore disck? i have a compaq desktop it got a virus i have the restore discks but i cant rember the keys you use to check the hard drive to see if it can handel a restor please help
 
If your OS is Windows then use the disk check:
go to "start"
then go to "run"
type "chkdsk" in searchbar and click OK
let the program run until it's finished.If there is a problem it will tell you.
 
go to my computer, open, c drive, right click, properties, tools, error checking, check both boxes, then it will do an error check on the disk and repair or fix sectors.
