Doom and Extreme Metal.

I like what I've heard of doom metal. My favourites so far:

* Candlemass (these guys are sex for ears)
* Black Sabbath (maybe more rock than metal, but they still count)
* Cathedral (doomy as fuck, oh my god Dorrian has such a good depressing doom voice)
* Electric Wizard
* St Vitus
* Starchild

And I really like the one song I heard by Down.
 
most of you seem to disagree that metal should have its own forum.. so lets see how long a metal topic lasts in the rock section.

anyone into Doom? extreme doom in particular? (Khanate, Atavist, ASVA, Nadja, Moss, Unearthly Trance etc?) or My Dying Bride?

personally this is one of the only metal genres i truely enjoy. i used to be into a lot of death metal.. but hmm, i dunno, grew out of it i guess.
 
why is Down even in this thread? i made this to discuss extreme genres... doom, death, black, grind.. not Down, or Iced Earth.

now.. does anyone like Boris, Sunn O))) or any other doom-drone?


EDIT: never really got into Candlemass.. what should i check out?
 
Ok I doubt this thread will last very long, but I like a lot of banRAB although I don't really know any good doommetal banRAB, except for my dying bride wich I don't like haha.

but I'm checking out khanate and atavist now.
 
This is a Doom metal thread, Iced Earth isn't Doom metal, apparently Down is, and Murder Junkie already said it, I was agreeing with him, and you didn't mention Down at all in your original post, you just burned on Iced Earth which isn't even a doom metal band. Maybe I should say Jethro Tull suck in the prog metal thread if were doing that.

Moving on I haven't heard a whole lot of Doom that I liked out side of Sabbath, but I still have yet to hear that Candlemass CD, I'll probably get a copy burned.

And what is Extreme metal, I've never heard of it.
 
What My Dying Bride stuff have you heard? i call my self a fan but still cant stand their earlier funeral-doom albums, they've changed alot over their career. Songs of Darkness, WorRAB Of Light is my favourite of theirs... The Dreadful Hours is good too.


for some lighter stuff... anyone listen to Isis, Neurosis, Cult Of Luna etc?
 
I've been trying to find some stuff by Down, but it's proving really hard for some reason. And I've heard a wee bit of Cathedral, they have a really raw guitar sound. I like the song Utopian Blaster quite a lot.
