don't you think they should have the debates? We............?

It would be a mistake for the Republican party to want to have McCain debate Obama
.
The answers would make McCain look a little to hard at the paper on the podium to see what the answer should be
.

In a way, I kind of hope McCain doesn't show up, just to see what Saturday Night Live does with it.

They could have Obama on stage just twiddling his thumbs waiting for McCain to show up. A minute or two of silence passes, and the moderator of the debates says, "Sen. Obama, it seems Sen. McCain is a no-show...Is there anything you'd like to say at this time?"

[cut to Sen. Obama, looking up from his thumbtwiddling]

"Yes, thank you...Live from New York..."

The primary focus for both of these SENATORS need to be on their current job. They are being paid by the Federal Government as U.S. Senators and they need to act as that first and foremost in this dire time.

Why should their personal ambition be placed in front of an economic crisis when it can easily be delayed for a week- or less?

Sen. McCain has the correct idea. Sen. Obama who always has his personal ambition before his duty, is way out of touch with the correct priority here.

This IS NOT a campaign trick on Sen. McCain's part, this is common sense. If Sen. Obama doesn't want to return to Washington and help with the biggest fiscal issue since the 1980's then why is he running for President?

Why does Sen. Obama not want to delay the debate and help with legislation? Is it because he has never came up with major legislation? Is he afraid his inexperience will show through?

Sen. Obama can not just keep talking, he eventually needs to do something.

Don't worry they will as long as they can get Obama there. He really is not interested in debating..

Sure we do. I have been waiting for so long for this debate, and McCain is just going to bail out like that. It's really ridiculous.
Brian you sound like a fool. I love the way you conservatives turn stuff around.

I don't see why an hour and a half of their time can hurt anything. I think they should go on with the debate.

Seems if we want politics as usually and sound bites, Then Obama's lead to just campain is right.....

The good news is that the VP debate for Oct 2 is being cancelled and the presidential candidates will debate instead, so they will have 3 debates. Sadly, the debate with the most laughs, would have been the one between Biden and Palin.

Of course they should, they aren't the president, they aren't going to have a vote on the bill till monday if they don't have it tomorrow.
The debate is a formal occasion, and the university has spent money making plans and setting things up. Neither man is on any of the congressional committees who are looking at things now.
Even if they were, we have this great communications device, the computer, and even the telephone.
The world can't come to an end for two senators out of a hundred not showing up to listen to a meeting.

Most people have already decided who they want to vote for. Debates or no debates, I could care less.

They can debate anytime, why does it have to be Friday. When the country needs it's president for a crisis, is Obama going to stop what he is doing or is he going to just let everyone else deal with it. McCain is working on the most important thing at hand. Debates are not as important as the economy. The public just wants to see a fight, they all need to grow up and realize that the economy is more important than a simple debate.

they will have debates.. but right now i feel we must look into are financial crisis... look out for the people. hey since obama wants a debate so bad now, let mccain tell sarah palin to go,, would love to see sarah put obama in his place.. oh yeahhhhhhhh...

If they delay, and have to remove one of the debates from the schedule, what do you want to bet it will be the Biden/Palen debate. The way they keep her from the press makes you wonder what they're trying to hide.

This is unreal. If he cant multitask then how can he be the president? And quite honestly what the heck is he going to do to fix things anyway? Do you think the people who are working this deal are listening to what he says? One day he is for it, then he is not then he is. Come on people! Get real! He needs to get on with the debate and put him Maverick money where his mouth is.

There's nothing wrong with a DELAY.

WHERE was your outrage when Obama ducked TEN invitations to Town Hall meetings?

Of course the debates should go on. While both candidates should vote on the bank bailout, postponing the debates would be a mistake. In difficult times like now, it is most important to hear the candidates discussing these issues.

The physical presence of McCain or Obama in Washington is far less important than for each of them to convince the American people of their vision of the proper direction we should be taking with this crisis.
