I usually don't let this stuff get to me. I just say "okay" and walk away but this week like a whole group ganged up on me and started saying how soccer is better and track isn't a sport because you don't need skill to do it. It's just a reject sport for the people that couldn't make any other team. Then they started saying how track doesn't have it's one league like soccer or baseball does and that they do more in soccer practice than in track or cross country.
Ok well first....our soccer team is conditioning and they run for 30 minutes, well a majority of them walk and then they'll run 100 and walk 100 for 30 minutes on a different day. And that 100 that they run is like... a sloowww jog. But apparently that is just SO MUCH HARDER than running 4 to 6 miles or doing 17 100's with a time of 15 seconds and not any breaks.
And then they say "all you do is run, it's so pointless"... well.. you run too... and if you get the ball it's only for like a split second if you do get the ball (the girls that ganged up on me aren't very good) and then you just run around acting like you're doing something. I'm not dissing soccer though because I have played numerous sports, running is just what I ended up falling in love with, it just bugs me so much!
I mean... Track and field was like the ultimate test of strength back then you ran distance, sprinted, threw a javelin, and jumped. And if it wasn't so hard then why do even some of the best runners pass out after some of their amazing runs. I mean like look what this facebook group said:
This group is for all those who believe track is not a sport, but more an activity, something to keep people occupied after school if they couldn't cut it in any real sport. For those who believe that anyone who is not paralyzed can do track ( maybe even some of them) because after all, what skill does it take, being able to walk? It's an abomination that students can receive a Varsity letter a season for just running.
What skill does it take? well then... why don't you try to run a mile under 8 minutes let alone 5.
Gosh it annoys me. And these girls know that running is my passion and they purposely did it to make me angry. I didn't want to get mean or anything and point out how they sucked at running and what not so I just kept saying "dude track is a sport so can you please shut up" and they would just go on. same for cross country.. that is like... the best thing ever and next time someone disses running i am... well idk i'm not a mean person but they will get told off.
lol soo yeah.. thats all.. thanks for reading! oh and PLEASE TRY TO READ ALL OF IT PLEASEEE!
thanks ?
