Well, if she didn't tell you anything specific then that means she wants something that you love to paint. Why would she want to make you paint something you don't like?
What are you into painting? Consider things she may like at least a little though. Look around you. Don't get overwhelmed with trying to make some museum piece. Just try your best and she will LOVe it because you made it.
Here are some things.,
-nature....flowers, wheelbarrow, garden, bonsai tree, cactus
-games...chess, checker board...
-abstract painting....express your relationship with her on the canvas..
- everyday items.....candy, condiments.....my friend painted a picture just full of condiments..mustard ketchup for her moms kitchen..it looked sweet...
- maybe pick a room in the house and think...what would go in there?
