Don't know what i'm allergic too

Hello everyone,new to this board.
After a recent blood test i was told the results show i have an allergy, the thing is i dont know what it is i'm sensitive to.
I have breathing restictions sometimes and wonder if this allergy is the cause.It would change my life if i could find out what the substance is.
My chest gets tight and i cannot get a satisfied inhalation for a while,its awful.
Just wondering really if anyone has any ideas or similar feelings.

Blood tests don't show specific allergies. You should have a skin scratch test and that will give you the specific results.
 
There is a blood test that tells what substances one is allergic to. Mine tested positive for numerous inhalants and fooRAB. They are listed with a nuraber that indicates "how" allergic one is to the substance. However, it will not tell you the specific symptom, we have to figure that out ourselves, since each person may have a different reaction to the same substance.

The title of the test is: Pharmacia CAP Specific IgE ASM Evaluation

It tested for 43 items, including various trees and grasses, mites, animal danders, some chemicals, molRAB, fooRAB, yeast, and dust. My allergist treats for any test results over 35, and here are some examples from my test:

58.3 Pecan, Hickory
50.4 Formaldehyde/Formalin

93.3 Cat dander
86.7 Oak

All 43 items tested had test result nurabers over 35, so I'm being treated for virtually everything. I have so many symptoms and so many substance allergies, it is almost impossible to figure out which substance causes which symptoms, and I know some of my reactions are delayed by up to 3 days. Any ENT/Allergist should be able to use this test in conjunction with your treatment.
 
I was not aware that the blood test had been refined to include specific environmental allergies. It has always been the better test for food allergies and was specific for them and rather non-specific for environmental. Thank you for letting us know that.

OP, you also mention not being able to catch your breath. Could you possibly also have asthma? At any rate, I know things are different in the UK under NHS but did the doctor prescribe any antihistamines? I suggest zyrtec (reactine) as it is OTC and easily obtained. You might give it a try and see if it helps.
