...the middle of the night? This all started 2 nights ago. I woke at 6am to my Stella freaking out and whining extremely loud. she ran around a portion of the room, shaking a bit and jumping/limping/wobbling. This was a painful whine, not a begging whine. I tried to calm her and it did not work. She continued to do this for another 15 seconds or so and finally laid on the floor, whining a little more, kicking her feet around and then lost control of her bladder and peed in her spot. She then dry heaved once or twice. She calmed down in a few seconds and got up fine, walked downstairs to the back yard and peed. She then tried to dry heave a couple of times in the yard. I kept an eye on here for 3 hours with no problems. Later that day she came in from laying down in her bed in the garage and did a similar thing and freaked out, she laid down on the ground after 45 seconds and was fine. She seemed to stiffen her back legs a bit and walk around funny. I took her to the vet to have her checked out. He looked over her and did a check up. Did not take x-rays yet or blood work. he palpated everywhere, checked for anything irregular. There were no issues. He did notice she did pull one of her hind legs away when he tried to stretch it out. He said to keep a close eye on here for a couple of days and then bring her back in. She was fin the whole night. She was herself and did not seem strange or different. She was walking fine, playing, sitting, laying, walking, everything.. This time I woke at 5am to the same thing. She stood up and freaked out. She did not urinate or dry heave. I held her steady to not run around and pet her and told her to calm down calmly. She stopped and was ok. She did stay standing for a few minutes before she would lay back down in her bed. She seemed to be fine and went downstairs on our schedule and did her thing. She has been eating fine, urinating and has a normal stool. She did the same thing again from the day before when home for lunch. She was then back to herself. Tonight when I got home she did the same thing again. When I cam in the door she was around back and was whining and doing it again. She freaked out a bit in the house, I calmed her down, then she laid on the floor. I made her get up and walk to me and she walked to me whining and doing the same thing again. She sat her hind end on the couch end (English Mastiff and for some reason likes sitting on the couch with just 9" of her but on it). She would not move for 15 minutes. I got her to come to me and when she tried to, she started whining the same way. I picked the weight off of her hind legs and tried to get he to move by stepping her hind legs one by one. She eventually was fine and has been for several hours. She has no problem getting up immediately when she hears the door and running to it. She has been playing like normal since earlier. I have massaged and checked all of her limbs, muscles and joints. She has not responded with pain on anything. Checked her paws, hip movement and everything. Nothing seems to bug her much. I have put pressure on all parts of her body, massaged her stomach chest, joints and all, with no pain. She did seem to drink less water today and has eaten a bit less as well. I free feed and she does tend to fluctuate day to day on her eating. I have looked over many things as to what it could be. Possibly neurological, pinched nerve, cramps, and many other things. When it first happened Ididn'tt know if she was maybe having a nightmare or a mild seizure. Or maybe something she could not pass in her system, or turned stomach (vet says no). I guess X-Rays would tell more. It seems this happens when she has been laying down for a long period of time. I am not sure. Im looking for some more input. Stella is a 16 month old, Female, English Mastiff at 140lbs. She is active but not overly active. She has always been a normal pup with no problems. Wish I could show video, it is hard to explain how she is acting.
She is completely responsive when she does this. She heard me come home and ran around back while doing this, and proceeded to be able to walk inside and while whining and freaking out. When trying to get her off of the couch and walk towards me she would whine until she stood still again, then stopped. Seizure seems out of the question when being triggered like this. She is also able to walk around and listens while doing this.
