So that lady got me thinking [again] about the whole "educate vs. argue" issue that seems to happen a ton on here. -_-

So, with someone whom already bred the dogs - pups are due at any moment, they knows nothing, and they come on here [very late] for help..

Should we educate them on it, or should we argue.
I've always been one to argue with someone that purposely bred their dogs knowledgeably; especially when they have no place even owning a dog.
But I've recently come to that crossroad where I have to choose; Do I educate them, or do I argue with them?

So, my question.
If someone was in that situation [as described above with the dogs], and they were completely uneducated.
Would you at least give them a couple of links that would help?
Or would you just b*tch them out for being irresponsible?

Cheers.

If they don't give a toss about what's happening, and they are *not* submissive people, there's not much difference. They'll think any education is arguing, and they'll fight you to the death to prove what they did was "right".

I would educate. But once they have done the deed, have been horribly responsible, and are also proving to be RUDE, I'll throw some not-so-nice things in as well.

Its so hard not to get angry at them.
I don't really answer any of the "breeding this moment" questions, since I don't know, but for the "I am thinking of breeding", I try to educate without trying to insult. Alot of the times, they will get insulted anyway. I think that would be the best way. At least maybe there is a chance it might get through. A straight out attack will shut them down to any ideas, and just giving them the info they need won't educate them either.

People will listen better if you do not attack them. If you try to argue, people are more likely to become defensive rather than listen. I would try to post some good links and educate.

As the saying goes, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar!
I try to educate, gently. If they are attacked they just get defensive, or shut down and then they go around saying that all "real" breeders are just snobs.

I've noticed that people tend to get angry on here about it. I think that serves it's purpose, maybe it'll stop it from happening again, but I always worry that if the person asking only gets badmouthed and not told any useful advice then they might just abandon the dog or do something worse to it.
