Dog Grooming/ Pom Owners?

sorry I lost my question...anyways, I took my pom to a groomer, told her I did NOT want a chihuahua..came back to a pom shaved within a half inch of her skin! she assured me that this was the thing to do and that in 3 weeks I would love it...I can't stand to even look at the poor thing..does everyone do this to their poms in the summer! I am traumatized!
 
No, shaving ruins the coat! Not to mention the guard hairs in the coat protect the dog from heat as well as cold, there is no reason to shave unless it's a medical reason or if the dog is matted.
