Doesn't it seem like Jazz was at its most balanced in the Swing era with Count

Basie and Duke Ellington? At this time Jazz embraced blues, show tunes, wonderful melodies, improvisation, composed pieces, orchestration, etc. Jazz was like a cauldron where all music mixed into one. Jazz had a toe in popular music at this time which kept it balanced in my opinion. I'm really starting to get into this stuff. Benny Goodman is another great artist of this era. Do you have any comments or recommendations?
Oh yeah, I forgot the most important characteristic of music at this time. A lot of it is snapping your fingers, upbeat, dancing music. But then some of it is like orchestral blues.
