Doesn earth rotate clockwise or counter clockwise?

This was a trick question and I answered it this way.. I said it spins both ways. I said if your in a spacecraft looking down at it, it will be spinning clockwise and if your in a craft looking up at it will be spinning counter clockwise.. Then the questioner said, yes.. But thats not accurate to your present position.. Which is true.. Which is a more accurate answer in your opinion?
 
Both are accurate. It's totally dependant on your location in space. The moon is always full, It's phase is dependant on perspective

The Sun and all the planets except Venus, Uranus, and Pluto, rotate counter clockwise if you are above the north pole of the Earth or Sun. The Sun and all the planets revolve/orbit counterclockwise if you are above the north pole of the sun The nebula that the formed the solar system also sun counter-clockwise. Angular momentum is always conserved.
 
If you are looking at the earth like it is a map, with the north facing up and the south down, the earth rotates to the right, so use that information to tell if it clockwise or not from wherever you are.

The reason I know this is because I am on the Pacific coast of the US and the East coast is always 3 hours ahead of me, which is east, which is to the right on a map.

If you look at the earth from the north it is counterclockwise.
from the south is clockwise.
 
My response to the questioner would have been that he or she was not specific enough in their question to warrant a specific enough answer. If they wanted to know about the rotation at this specific area, it should have been posed in the question. I think your answer is "more accurate" for the question posed.
