Does Verizon change numbers from phone to phone?

My dad's phone is ready for an upgrade but he doesn't want it and is giving it to me, but will that make me have his phone? Anyways, here's what we were going to do.

I get his upgrade, so I get a new phone.
My sister gets my phone
My dad gets my sisters old phone. (Mines to complicated for my dad. :P)
So wouldn't that mean we would have to change all our numbers?
Would Verizon do that?
HELP! :)
Thanks!

Bring all the old phones to a Verizon store, buy the upgrade phone and ask them to reporgram the numbers on each phone. If this is a family plan, they can do it with no problems, afaik.

This is why CDMA networks like Verizon and Sprint suck. With a GSM based network like T-Mobile or AT&T, you just have to get the phone and drop in the SIM card. and you can use the phone on any GSM network in the world, since the rest of the planet uses GSM.

Tell your to conside switching to T-Mobile. Great selection of phones, good upgrades, two lines on a family plan and only $5 for additional lines, and excellent contract and no-contract plans. They even have "easy" phones for him! ;-)

No, I don't work for T-Mobile, just a happy customer for 10+ years.
