my little girl since around 4 months old has started to wake regually around every 30mins to 2 hours sometimes a little pat on the back or given something to cuddle is okay but sometimes about 4-5 times a night she screams uncontrollably and wont be comforted by myself or her dad and just screams until she is rocked and rocked vigerously enought to go back to sleep. We can not go out in the evening as who ever is minding her always rings us after only being out about 30 mins as she is so hysterical. We just want a little bit of us time as well as my baby being happy. We seemed to have tried everything under the sun medicine before bed light on light off music different matress something to cuddle someone staying in her room, leaving her to cry but if no one intervenes she is sick she usually has her eyes shut but after screaming for about 5 mins opens her eyes, she has a dummy which we can sometimes sooth her with but only when she does not wake in a state. Any advice? she is 11 months old now thanks Amy

Screaming uncontrollably like that, and constant waking can be a sign of night terrors. Keep soothing her. There is nothing wrong with her NEEDING someone for God's sake! My son went through this at about 9 months. We soothed him by rocking, singing and cuddling. It was hard, but we realised that he need this. Now he's 2 1/2. He's very well adjusted, sleeps through the night, etc. Teaching your child to self soothe at such a young age is not good for them. She's still a baby and her needs deserve to be met. I can't believe the poster who told you to leave her.
