okay... i am 14 and i'm writing a book (this is just a rough draft). This is the prologue. Could you please tell me if you like it so far? Oh, and please give me some constructive criticism! Thanks for everything!
In the summer of 2008, I was just barely 17 years old. I was going to college the following fall and I was so ready to get away. It was going to be the first time in my life as an independent young adult.
I would be thousands of miles away from my parents and they couldn’t do a thing about it. Sure, they would complain and try to convince me to change my mind about my choice of college – which was Rocky Mountain College in Montana, but they knew they wouldn’t. I really hadn’t wanted to go to college when I was younger but my parents said it was a waste not to. “Ava, if you have a perfect record, why would you waste it?” they would ask.
Somehow, they had convinced me that college was definitely not an option and it would be a fun thing to go through… a real “life changing” experience. What to them was a life changing experience was probably going to be a big, boring blob of years trying to live up to their expectations for me.
Was it going to be as fun as my parents had assured me that it would be? Or would it be the hardest 4 years of my life? I didn’t know the answer to that, but I knew that somehow I’d manage to get though it either way… hopefully.
Oh, and this is soooo not official. I'm not planning on getting it published or anything.
