Does this sound bad mannered to say to you? Picking people up)?

Someone came round my house the other day and we were watching Yes man on Dvd my Mum then said
" Is this on a CD?"
The other person then said
"Get it right it's not a CD it's a Dvd, Cd's are for playing music....."
They said it in a snappy tone.

I had to tell them my parents don't like being picked up and then they said they were joking and my parents aren't very nice because they can't take a joke but I thought this sounded really bad mannered,

How do I get them not to do it again?
Picking people up means correcting someone when it's not needed their just doing it to sound smart
