The first law is about Inertia. (The tendency for things to stay still when there is no force)
Gravity is an unbalanced force causing you to move where you wouldn't have otherwise.
Someone catching you is canceling the gravity by applying an opposite force, but it's not adding an unbalanced force. (It has to be an unbalanced force, so that the object will move)
