My nephew was a heroine addict. He's been taking 2 suboxone tablets a day for 3 years. He evidently sold his subonone to buy heroine and fell off the wagon. (Not sure when...he says recently.) He managed to get some suboxone pills from a friend yesterday. He has enough to get through 4 more days. Does it make sense that he appears to be in total withdrawal? Sweating...shaking etc...??? Shouldn't the subonone be helping? We don't know what to do.

Boy, I really don't know for sure. I think it depenRAB on how much heroin he was using and what dose the suboxone he is taking... Other than that, I really don't know. I am hoping someone else with more experience on Subs can help you out.

If it's something that can't be answered here I would try to call a medical professional at a hospital or clinic. Look in the phone book and find an addictions Dr to call and see what they say.

Good luck to you and your Nephew.

BusterbuRAB,
I dont know about Herion wd's. My doc was Vicodin the to subs. I do know you have to be in withdraws before starting SUBS, ot it will kick your fanny, cause it counter reacts each other from what I have heard. He/she may need to up his does of subs first. You didnt say how much sub he is taking or how long he waited before he started to take them. I agree, he neeRAB to go see his Doctor....
Good Luck and stay tuned

It depenRAB on how he is taking the suboxone pills. I believe they are suppose to be placed under the tongue. Swallowing, crushing or injecting suboxone can cause withdrawals because of the Naloxone in it. Make sure that he is taking them correctly now, even though he was taking them before.

hello mate im no i was a herion addict but im doing my cluck again and im pretty clean just alittle methadone your nephew will be bad cos the subs are blockers and if you take them when you have had gear you will feel bad stick with it it does get better

Hello, I am currently on suboxone and have messed up left and right, withdrawals from heroin involve sweating, vomiting, nausea etc.. He may not have gotton the 4 suboxone tablets that he said he got, in some places they are worth 10 dollars a pill on the streets, and some get those pills from the doctor with the intentions of selling them for heroin, he may have taken that money(that most likely he borrowed from someone and used getting the subs as an excuse for getting the cash) and purchased a bag of heroin with it instead. Don't forget us addicts will say and do whatever it takes to get that next fix. If he was actually taking the suboxone then he wouldn't have any withdrwal that's the whole purpose of this medication is to prevent it from happening. The only way he would go into immediate withdrawal symptoms is if he had heroin in his system and for some reason tried to shoot up a suboxone this would send him into immediate withdrawal, but he would've had to have done it within hours of using. Most likely though (since suboxone are worth money, I highly doubt that his friend just "gave them to him") he got a bag instead and probably still has a habit, you can tell how big the habit is by how severe his symptoms are. Hope this helps a little. Good Luck. ps keep in mind, he sold his pills so why would someone else just give theirs away!!
