Movements have helped mobilized ethnic groups throughout the world to change their social cultural mechanism that undermined their ideologies and cultural values. Such is the case with the North and South continent know today as Latin American. Latin America can be best described as multicultural, although it is composed of different ethnic backgrounds it face tremendous inequality within the indigenous social, economical and political subdivision. Latin American has a vast population of indigenous people that have not been politically, economically and socially accepted for years. When the European conquered Latin America they robbed them of their lands, families, languages and cultural. They persecuted and tortured them to assimilate to a different society, where they were seen as savages. There culture started to fade do to disease and colonial power. The European brought to the Americas hierarchy society where the rich dominate Latin America and dictate to the lower class, this can still been seen today“ Indeed the cultural pluralism literature often identified Latin America as exception, the region where ethnic political debates, mobilization and conflict did not occur” However there has been significant change “ during the last decade of the twentieth Century ethnicity became a key focus of political concern, as demands for reform of the state to accommodate indigenous people’s demand gathered pace.
