Does this count as discrimination under UK law?

I am a mature student studying childcare. I have until this week been on placement in a really nice day nursery, and have really enjoyed working there. The staff have been really nice to me and the children are great.

This week my tutor told me that the owner of the day nursery contacted him. She said she's decided that because I have Asperger's Syndrome (an autistic spectrum disorder) she doesn't want me to work there anymore.

It is evident to the staff and all who know me that my Asperger's Syndrome does NOT affect my ability to work with children. When I was diagnosed with it 11 years ago I was told I wasn't as badly affected as other kids who have it, and in any case, since then I've come on in leaps and bounds! Therefore I feel that this is an unfair reason to remove me from my placement, ESPECIALLY since the owner has SEEN me working with kids, and KNOWS PERFECTLY WELL that it doesn't affect me!

Does this count as discrimination or would it only be discrimination if I was a paid employee?
