Does the VW Beetle have a draft shaft, or is it like a front wheel drive car,

The old bugs had the engine in the back. They depending on the year they could have been anything from a 1300cc to a 1600cc displacement, normally around 60 horsepower I think. I made tha smart choice though...I took the engine and transmission out of beetle, modified it with 92mm pistons and cylinders to make about 1692cc...then stuck it in my dune buggy :) These engines are so simple it's amazing that they even run.

The new beetle is a front-wheel drive piece of crap that looks like a scrubbing bubble.
