does the time taken for food to digest have anything to do with exercise and heart rate?

i have an assignment on healthy lifestyles to give in on Wednesday and im mega stuck!!! i have to design a fitness programme to increase cardiovascular fitness fitness and it runs for 5 days. please could someone help me what should i measure because i am getting marked on how good i analyse the results. if you have any ideas please tell me? what could i measure? and does the digestive system and cardiovascular system have anything to do with each other? if so how could i measure something that could work? thank you i really appreciate this.x

all the systems are dependent on each other. if one doesn't work right, the others won't either. you should not exercise after you eat. your body only has enough blood for one process at a time. muscles need blood for maximum efficiency and the stomach and intestines need blood to digest and absorb nutrients. test the breathing of your subjects when they first start to eat better and exercise and when the 5 days is over and see if they breathe better, deeper.
