Does the President consistently "overstep" his roll on anything remotely race related?

The Henry Lewis Gates vs Cambridge Police Department, and now baselessly threatening civil liberties action against an entire State when they are only enforcing federal immigration law. Neither were correct, and both will make the president look stupid.

Shouldn't the president have more discretion and do his "homework" before he speaks?
