Does the Potomac River have good bass fishing?

I'm talking freshwater largemouth and smallmouth bass, just west of DC. Also, is any spot on the river fishable, or do some areas not have good fishing?
also, do the bass in the potomac make for good eating?
 
It should have good bass fishing because BASS and FLW hold top level tournaments there all the time. I guess if you ask some locals they could give you the inside dope on where the fish are.
