Does the mobile IM on a verizon wireless plan cost airtime?

I was just wondering if it costs airtime to be on MSN or AIM on the mobile IM app on my LG enV Touch verizon wireless phone. I have unlimited texting but a limited amount of airtime, which is 25 MB. So does it cost texting or airtime? Thank you in advance!
