Does the Ford 300 I6 have offroad potential?

Lookin to get a cheap truck for off-road use that I can modify to my needs.
My thoughts on the setup this far include 33"-35" tires 17" wheels and a 3-5" suspension lift
I know the 300 has a great reputation but I just dont know what is necessary (if anything) to push the extra weight of the boggers.
I might even go with a blown engine so I can build it to my needs, I would appreciate any thoughts on that.

The 300 L6 is a great engine for off roading - get some low gears and 35" tires and you'll have all of the low end torque you could possibly hope for.

You can build that 300 to give you extra to go off road with out putting a blower on it.
Summit Raceing, and Jegs have bolt on top end kits to give it what your want.
