I AM NOT REFERRING TO WARTIME!
I am currently being scheduled to work upwards of 200 hours/month to do my job. (this is in the states, normal peacetime job). At the same time my civilian counterparts do the same job, but work 40hrs per week and get paid overtime for hours they work extra.
Can they be allowed to work me extra without compensation? The answer I get is usually something along the lines of "You are in the army, and you will do what you are told." or simply that we do not get paid by the hour and overtime does not exist in the military.
Do they seriously have free-reign to make us work however long they need.
Note again!! I am NOT referring to wartime/emergency situations ... that i understand ... trust me, i worked months without a day off in Iraq ... but right now i am sitting behind a desk 12hrs per day with little time off.
