Does the Australian Statute of Limitations cover non court judgment Tax debts?

I am 68yrs, an Australian citizen and have been away from Australia for over 7 years, I would like to come back home but I fear that their maybe a tax assessment waiting for me from 2001. Does the Statute of Limitations apply in this case.
