I've just started Sociology 101 after completing Psychology 101, so of course I'm still a newbie to the whole concept. But I am interested.
I'm pretty much on a chapter that discusses deviant behavior and social control. I've just read a piece in my book that talks about laws and what they are.
"The code is enforced through the use of formal negative sanctions when rules are broken."
So, I pretty much started thinking, does our society have any laws that when preformed correctly, will give reward us "positive" sanctions opposed to punishing us for breaking the negative ones written.
I'm pretty sure saying, "yeah, by not getting arrested or incarcerated would be a positive sanction...." that just doesn't seem to be adequate enough.
Anyways, any input is great. Thanks
