Does the Air Force pay for college?

Tuition Assistance is available while AD which is up to $4500 or 16 college credits each fiscal year to all for class cost and lab fees. All book costs are yours. If you are serious about college then you can use the Gi Bill as a top up after you have used the TA for that year. it is when it will only pay for the classes that are not covered by it. But when using the GI Bill while AD you don't get books, living allowance and BAH as you would if you used it when you got out or retired. Some colleges offer discounts and costs where you can go for cheap outside of TA & GI Bill. There is colleges on base you can use. You can also do CLEP which is where you take the exam and if you pass you get the college credit for that course, if you don't you pay for the test (around $70 each). You can also gain credits for schooling you have received through the military.

Yes up to 4,500 a year i believe. There are a few routes you can go, the 1st one and would be your best bet if you go while on active duty is do Tutution assistance. They pay for 100% of your tutition, ( the books you have to pay on your own ). Then there is the other one the most popular in the military Your GI Bill, You have up to 10 years from the time you get out to use that. And there another program you can apply for called Bootstrap, which bascially means you can go to school fulltime and get paid regulary but then you owe the Air Force back double for the time your gone. For Example you go to college for 1 year you owe the Air Force 2 years when you get done.
