Does stress and anxiety in a man affect his desire to have sex?

My fiance is 49, he has been off sick from work for four months with stress\anxiety.He is still waiting for some counseling with the NHS.His employers persuaded him return to work and that they would pay for him to see a councilor. He has been back at work for nine weeks and has not seen anyone. The reason for his stress is because his 86year old mother, who still cares for her 58 year old autistic son is becoming frail and less able to cope. She receives two hours a week help from social services. He told me that he feels guilty for not doing more to help and he is upset that i do not get on with her. She is worried that i am going to take her son away from her, he has never been in a committed relationship until now.I asked to visit and she blankly refuses to see me. We have been in a relationship for 5 years and this problem has not helped us move on. At the weekend my fiance said 'she is my rock' and i felt hurt by this comment. Our sex- life has been on hold for a few months and he chooses to spend time on the computer at night despite my efforts to get us closer eg romantic meals and sexy underwear. We communicate all the time about everything and he has taken up yoga, he swims and dances regularly. He has said that the spark has gone but hope it would return.I am losing my job in a few weeks and have found that everything is a bit gloomy, any suggestions welcome.
