I was in a store today, in line. There were two lines, the right line and the left line. There was this person in front of me with a cart and several things, I was only buying 3 things. Anyway, this guy decides to leave the right line and move to the left line. At the left line there was one customer having difficulties with a credit card, so then the guy leaves the line, I of course moved up the first thing he left in the first place making me next in line. He then proceeded to stand in the middle of both the lines, there was a woman ahead of me, when she left I stood there a couple seconds being nice to see if he wanted to go ahead of me. He didn't make an approach so I proceeded to put my stuff on the counter. The employee then yelled at me telling me there was clearly a line. I said to him the guy had already left the line, which meant his spot is not saved even though he wants to come back. Needless to say, I had to take all my stuff off the counter and wait a very long time to be served.
I just always thought that once you leave a line whether it's to go and get something else, put something back, or get in another line you are no longer first priority in the line you just left. Is this the right way, or is there something I'm not getting here?
Thankyou!
