Does restoring factory settings for my Nokia N97 automatically update its software?

My N97 was giving me a message that i needed to update its software, i took it to a dealer who restored factory settings by using a code *#7780# and said the phone software had been updated.. i doubt it though if that has worked besides i think he's charging me more for the service
