Does Realtor need to present at the day of home inspection?

Hi,

The house is getting inspected within couple days and I called agent to confirm this appointment. He instantly told me that he will not be available the next following days. It really sounds like he is lying to me. Does the real estate agent need to be present at the day of inspection? What is he trying to get away from?
