does putting hot water on your car help get the snow that's frozen on there off?

i have snow that's like frozen on my car not just ice like real snow and so i was wondering if that will help get it off.
 
The immediate effects will certainly get the snow off - but, among other possibilities, the unintended consequences include doors and latches that are frozen solid and windows that no longer open without ripping the lower rubber seal off the door.
This is not a good idea.
