I know it's caused by air and O2 along with other gases, but what does it do? What's the purpose of it and Is it harmful to the plants or fish in the tank?
If you mean pearling, when the plants create small bubbles of oxygen, it's completely safe and beneficial. It adds oxygen to the water column and means your plants are healthy. You are doing well. I get so excited when my plants pearl.
