Does my Y reg 2001 Ford Focus Zetec1.6 have an immobiliser fitted?

Since 1996 the law states that a factory fitted immobiliser must be part of every new car being built. Phone a Ford dealer to find out about Cat 1 or Cat 2 as the handbook does not state which it is. The insurance companies should already know the answer, but when you contact them you might get someone who will not check for you. I once had someone when insuring my car tell me that the manufacturer did not make my model of car - so it can depend on who you are speaking to at the time.

Hi all

I have just bought the above car and was asked on my insurance quote if it had a Factory fitted Cat 1 or Cat 2 type immobiliser.
Does anyone know the difference or which one is fitted in these cars as standard.

It has a standard factory fitted immobiliser, not cat 1 or 2 .

It has a factory fitted immobiliser but cat 1 or 2 who knows. The insurance company should know what is standard factory fit for this car
