Does my web host have to support php or can I upload some open source stuff

to get it to work? I am trying to use php pages on my site. The php doesn't seem to work. Is there something I can do to make it work or do I have to contact the web host?

I host with http://order.1and1.com/xml/order/tariffselect;jsessionid=10DBD50F0BA70F6C4852BD11EB9A5C79.TC60b?__reuse=1228276092443
