Does my used 2004 Ford F-150 have less power than a older 99 F-150?

I just bought a used 2004 f-150 4x4 with 109,000 miles. I used to own a 99 2x4 f-150 and it rocked, lots of power, fast acceleration when I hit the gas, but this new 2004 I just got doesnt seem to have much power. The acceleration is slow, the torqe almost seems no existent. Can anyone help me out? Is this normal for this 2004 year and model? Or can I do something to fix it? I'm an intermediate mechanic and can fix and replace anything, I just struggle with diagnostics. Thanks everyone for your help!

Depends on your engine. If your old 1999 had teh 5.4L triton and your new one has the 4.6L or worse yet the 4.2L V6 then you have a lot less power. I have a 2006 F150 4x4 and my mom has a 2000. Both have the 5.4L and mine has more power. If your old truck had a bigger engine it had more power. Also, the added weight of 4x4 components adds approx 500lbs to the vehicle which also slows it down.

1999 F150 engines
5.4L - 248hp / 294 ft/lbs torque
4.6L - 220hp/ 290ft/lbs torque
4.2L - 205hp

2004 F150 engines

5.4L - 300hp/ 365 ft/lbs torque
4.6L - 231hp/293 ft/lbs torque
4.2L - not available in 4x4 model
