I rent an apartment in a building. The landlord to whom i pay rent to only owns the apartment I stay in. My landlord stated on his lease that there are no Dogs allowed. I got a dog any way.

He says that I cannot have it in the apartment. I said ok, I have a friend next door who would allow me to keep the dog there as long as I wanted. He says no, I am not allowed to bring the Dog into the building.

Dogs are allowed in the building. There are many tenants that have Dogs. He says because I am his tenant I am not allowed to keep the dog in the apartment or on the property of the building.

Does he have the right to say this? What are my rights? Can I keep my dog next door and not be in trouble with the law? He says that if i come onto the property with the dog he is going to have to call the police.

The Main question: Because I am his tenant and he says no Dogs allowed, does that mean that I cannot have a dog on the property at all?
PLEASE HELP!
