Does my Bull Terrier puppy have an anxiety disorder? He stares at the wall and

barks/whines...? I just got a Bull Terrier puppy - he's 47 days old - and he has some odd behavior. Every once in a while, he'll just stare at the wall (in different places in the house) and start whining and barking at it. At first I tried picking him up and moving him in order to distract him, but he would just keep going back to the same spot over and over again.

So now, I just ignore him so as to not reinforce the behavior. But it usually lasts 5-10 minutes until he settles down. And I'm curious... Any idea what might be going on here?
I've only had him for two days. I've tried distracting him with toys to no avail. Other behaviors - chewing my shoe laces, etc - I've been able to distract him from and he's already learning not to do it. The wall barking thing is the exception to his otherwise normal "new puppy" behavior, as far as I can tell...
Thank you for the info. He went to the vet yesterday and got a clean bill of health, but I'm going to send him to the vet for a neuro exam. As far as his age is concerned - the FCI, (Fédération Cynologique Internationale), which whom he is registered, approves puppies to be separated/brought home at 45 days. So I have to disagree that it's an "irresponsible breeder" for that reason alone.
Just spoke with the Vet - he said it's normal and nothing to worry about...

He is a bit young, 5 weeks. But as long as he eats puppy chow and drinks water, he'll be ok without his mom.
I'm thinking three things:
He could have a neurological problem.
There could be a critter like a mouse or something in the wall. Put your ear there and listen.
Or.....you could have a ghost.
Tell his Vet what he's doing so he can be checked to see if has a physical problem. If he checks out ok, then its something in your house.
