does my boyfriend in jail really mean what he says on the phone and in letters?

my boyfriend in jail, because i charged him for domestic assult when he was drunk. he wrote me a letter saying he does not remember and he is going to get help (afm). and get anger management. he also told me how much he wants to spend the rest if his life with me and all that lalala life...so he is going to change.aparently..he called me to see if i could get the charges droped so he can spend the christmas with his family (us). do u think he will stay true to his word by getting help and quitting drinking?
