Does music erase a usb flash drive's memory?

My usb flash has 1gb of memory and I put all of my music from my ITunes library to transfer it into another computer. However, after I transfered my music, I erased the music by putting it into the trashcan; and now all of that memory is gone. It keeps saying I only have 3.3mb left. How do I get that memory back? PLEASE THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT.
