Just curious if you MUST take a lunch break, or if you can just work your 8 hours straight through? Or is it up to employer policy? It seems at my job that exceptions are made for some but not others.
I know federal law does not require that you take a break. My issue is, i worked most of the day and only had 2 hours left. So i asked if i could just skip my 1 hr lunch and leave early. The response was no because that is against the law. I was told i must take at least 30 min lunch. But i know other hourly employees that have lunch meetings which they are paid for, but they do not have to punch out for a lunch break.
