Does microwaving food really change the chemical composition of it?

I'm trying to eat healthy for fertility (trying to get pregnant) and was told by a naturopathic doctor not to use the microwave because it changes the chemical composition of food and even water (???!!) so our bodies don't recognize the nutrients in food once it's microwaved. Is there any truth to this???
This same naturopath told me to not even use the microwave to heat up water!! How could the chemical composition of water possibly be changed from being heated in a micro??
I didn't think the chemical composition of water could possibly be changed. As for food, I'm not referring to using plastic containers, just an open plate of food on a ceramic dish re-heating for a minute. The only reason I even considered this a possibility was because when I microwave veggies they tend to come out a duller color than when I steam them on the stovetop so she had me wondering if there was any truth to this...

Thank you so much for your help!!!
