Does meditation transform your life?

Or does it not necessarily have a lot to do with the day to day decisions you make? I was thinking how much I've changed since I started meditation. During these 6 months, I have:

- Quit smoking
- Quit marijuana
- Quit Drinking
- Became a vegetarian
- Lost 60 pounds
- Gave up identification with all religions
- Got my grades back up (I failed a year)
- Got accepted into university
- Got a girlfriend
- Got a job

And generally I'm always happy and never bored and started to appreciate art, music and nature more and got new hobbies like learning how to cook and reading a lot more.
