alternative for our country? Newsweek had a cover that said "We are all socialists now", and didn't even put a question mark at the end!
Let's get past the word games. What we are facing is not (so far) "government ownership of all the major means of production"--although banks are already in the crosshairs. But we are facing state management of an increasing portion of the economy, as well as an attitude that entrepenurship, success and profit are bad things that should be penalized. Private initiative and individualism are under assault, and people are encouraged to look to the government to meet their needs.
I'd call that socialism.
