Does Imperial College look heavily on your GCSEs?

Hi everyone, I'm thinking about applying to Imperial to do chemistry next year. I understand the fact that it is one of the most competitive unis ever and they only take in students that are extremely good at their subjects.

Here is the problem, my GCSEs were not really 'up to standard'.
I had 4A*'s,1A, 6B's & 2Cs and I went to a state comprehensive school where on average 60% of students would have achieved 5 or more A* to C grades.

Should I just stop thinking about Imperial once and for all or is it worth a try?
Considering I really do like the college and all I don't want to give up but I don't think I stand a fair chance compared to the others who might have achieved better.

Your opinions will be appreciated.
