to do with design and shape? I've been told that there is no difference between the Yamaha 211 and Yahama 311 other than the 311 has a solid silver head joint and is subsequently more expensive. I've been told that the 311 is made in exactly the same way as the 211, with the same machinery, the same shape and design head joint as the 211 and that subseqently there is no difference in tone (as just having a solid silver head joint doesn't improve tone).
Is this right?
If so, what is a good intermediate flute or head joint to get that would give a good tone for someone who is at a stage where they would benefit from having a better quality flute and don't want a student flute that would hold them back?
