Does Genius on iTunes Make You Pay For Music It Shows You? Or Gives A Sample Of Songs?

theres a program on itunes called genius
"genius makes playlists and makes mixes from songs in your library that go great together"
does that mean they make you PAY for songs that THEY chose?!
Or does it give those :30 second samples of songs for you to check out?
